Coquille was selected to tat along by my Indian Tatting group under the leadership of most senior tatter Madhur who tatted number of doilies over the years.

Here is my version of Coquille doily by Jon Yusoff Jan2014.

This is her free pattern, where the rows can be tatted by climbing out with split rings, split chains and mock rings. I tried to tat Coquille in one pass and with front side tatting without reversing for chains. Hope you can make out the difference. The doily ruffled at the end of last row, later blocked the same.

The pics below are taken while work in progress.......

1.Started the doily with one variegated thread, front side tatting and climbing out in each row.

2.Added similar shade of variegated thread in later rounds

3. 7th and 8th round tatted together using mock ring technique.

4. At the end the doily ruffled. Blocking helped.

The doily was enthusiastically tatted by everyone.

Hi all

Back again and sharing my new lanyard patterns with you. Earlier I posted patterns with split rings and beads in My Lanyards. When it was discovered that the Dot Picots can be tatted on bare thread, I tatted  laces on a single shuttle. The same method of stringing Dot Picots is used for spectacle strings, all tatted in Anchor thread no.20. You can zoom in on my working pics for a closer view.

Lanyard No 1

A Combination of Split Rings, Dot Picot String and crystal bead is used in this lanyard. The cocktail colour crystal goes well with lighter shade of the thread. As seen in close up pic below, the crystal bead is strung and dot picot strings are tatted individually on each shuttle in between two split rings alternatively.

Lanyard 2

A dark purple thread with white crystal used in this lanyard. The crystal strung in middle of the Dot Picot Strings gives a different design pattern.

Lanyard No 3

Here the variation is in beads too.  Two tiny maroon beads on both sides of each golden bugle bead are arranged to avoid the latter from cutting through the thread. Small split rings of 2/2 ds tatted on either side of beads and Dot Picot strings.

Lanyard No 4

Yellow transparent big beads contrasting with thread color blue. Dot Picot Strings are followed by the bead and split ring.

Dot picots in tatting are very convenient to use anywhere and in any application. Why not try them now?

Exotic Dot Picots

Hi friends

The Dot Picots and the Dot Picot Strings are so fascinating that I have been trying to include them in different patterns.

Here is a star flower and a split ring braid.

All chains in the outer round have a mock ring in center.

The mock ring is a string of four Dot picots close to each other.

Amazing  appearance of dot picots as woven beads in this braid.

My single shuttle creations- application of Dot Picot Strings

Tiny Diamond Motif

Small rings with different picot lengths shaped like a flower are joined with dot picot string.

Dot Picot Trio motif-

Each trefoil petal is encircled with dot picot string. A mock ring of dot picot string is tatted at center of each petal.

The Bond of Love!!!!!!

Hello friends,

Our Indian festival of RakshaBandhan kept me busy this year. Its significance is the Bond of Love between Brother and Sister. Where the sister shows her love by tying silk thread on the wrist of her loving brother, in response to her love brother takes vow to take care of her in times of difficulties.

I thought of converting my tatting into pretty Rakhis i.e. a type of bracelet made of silk threads. My family members and friends too appreciated and liked them. I put in all my efforts to make the best Rakhis.

Here I am sharing some Rakhis with you. Each Rakhi is a fully tatted piece, the center and the cord for tying knot. I made center part using tatted motifs and cords using different types of tatted laces.

The first image above shows two clovers joined with an embellishment in the center.

The image on right side is made of split rings and bead in the center method.

Look at the attached brown cords at both ends of the motif.

Its tatted with Lock Chain Stitch. I love the beautiful effect it gives.

Some more unique creations are posted below.

Each one is tatted with the same above technique but with different types of cord patterns.

My Single Shuttle Laces

Tatting is a creative world!!!! Thanks everyone for positive response for My Single Shuttle Motifs.

Here I am sharing few of my own designs of single shuttle lace patterns with brief descriptions of each technique or effect used. These innovative ideas have come out of my Tatting Group's Single shuttle challenge. I would be happy to share patterns if anyone likes to try out my designs. Kindly email me for the same.

While tatting single shuttle laces, the only option was to tat rings in a row with or without bare thread. I thought of  replacing this bare thread using Dot Picots. I visualized lot of potential lying in the tiny ring of one double stitch. The Dot Picots can be used in many ways to make tatted pieces more ornamental.

I tatted six dot picots close to each other on the shuttle thread and it looked like a beaded string.

While moving over to next ring in a simple lace, one can replace the bare thread, which is used to leave some space to avoid overlapping, with this string of Dot Picots .

1.Laces with Dot Picot Strings: I was obsessed with replacing the bare thread with dot picot strings and created some unique patterns  using normal rings, onion rings, dots, trefoils, roll-tatted rings. You can just zoom in to see each one.

2. Laces with Half Closed Rings: This technique is commonly used but Brown lace is tatted with little variation. The half closed rings are tatted in between the normal rings with lacy picots. The light brown is trefoil of half closed rings.

3. Laces using vsps: These laces are tatted with very small picots which are frequently used for joining rings or chains. All four laces are tatted using vsp(very small picot) technique and not by SSSR (Single Shuttle Split Rings), where the shuttle thread is lock joined from back side to tat another ring in same direction. 

4. Simple laces with and without picots: Simple laces on left are made with variation in picot gauge and variation in double stitches showing the bare thread giving delicate look. On the right side, some laces are tatted with normal rings, some with Josephine  rings, all without picots.

5. Laces with Inverted picots and cross picots: In green lace each ring has three inverted picots, two short inverted picots on either sides and one long inverted picot in middle.  All three picots are  lock joined after closing the ring, giving shape of coins. In this lace, long Picots can be replaced by beads. In the orange lace, long picots are joined diagonally to the next ring.

All above lace patterns are created by me out of restriction of using only one shuttle as per the Theme of my Tatting Group.
