Love This Fusion!!!

Here is a star medallion, which I have managed to tat tiny dots and tiny dainty dot picots both in one motif. It is an elegant motif with fusion of two techniques, hence I named it Fusion Elegance.
This star motif was test tatted by Marie McCurry. Her motif came out amazingly beautiful.  I thank her for all efforts and valuable suggestions for my pattern writing.
Download the detailed PDF pattern here: Fusion Elegance
I have given step by step pictorial instructions in this PDF pattern.
Main highlight of this medallion is…..
1.Small space between two chains in second round tatted with (1ds P 1ds) dots.
2.The third round is tatted with Dot Picots as thrown rings on chains.
3.Decorative lock joins made in fourth round at eight points to break continuity of one colour.
Sharing my experiment with initial pics below………..
While climbing out to second round of this motif, I was confused where to attach SH2. I needed blue color to make a mock picot to complete first round (See pic 1,2)and Split Ring for the second round. I decided to leave 7cm thread of SH1 at the beginning of the first round.
The same thread was used till I climbed out with Split Ring,(See Pic 3) reversed the work and joined SH2 to continue the pattern.
Another variation
I am glad that Marie was happy with my written instructions.
Hope you enjoy working it too.
Your comments ,suggestions are most welcome.
 Happy Tatting always........

Lets create with Single Shuttle.........

Hello tatters
The word Single Shuttle sounded soooo simple, that no one knew what it can create!!! Yes, It's true. My Happy Tatters group has shown the way to use only one shuttle to create multiple possibilities in tatting. The theme in the group started with simple motifs. Many experienced tatters ended up tatting more difficult and larger motifs. Muskaan too got inspired with our idea of creating motifs with single shuttle and she really came out with her beautiful designs.
Here I m sharing with you some of my creations. I made use of all possible techniques known to me like  Dot Picots, Dots, Half Closed Rings, Rings in gradation, inverted picots  etc.
Below is the collage of some motifs, each one is uniquely tatted with one of these techniques.

I tatted Muskaan's patterns of Heart and Star of Halves which she tatted with single shuttle
Though the heart came out correctly, Star of halves turned into flower as I added one more petal and joined small half closed rings in first round to a long center picot.
Here sharing with you my unique Single Shuttle Patterns
This Dot Medallion is tatted with vintage dots i.e rings of 4ds.
This Star Crystal Snowflake might look familiar to patterns available in tatting, but it is my own stitchcount. I have tatted it in one pass and bare thread is used to separate middle flower.
Here is my Dot picot medallion. The specialty is, the bare thread space between the rings is taken over by Dot Picot Strings, giving look of beaded lace.
You too start creating with single shuttle and share with me.
All your comments, suggestions are welcome.
Next theme started.......Single shuttle laces. Any ideas????

Happy single shuttle tatting ................

My First BLOG

Hello Dear Tatters,

Welcome to my blog Ushas Creations where I will be sharing my tatting projects, my experiments and my new creations.
Tatting is my passion. My main projects are Tatted Jewelry, Fashion Accessories, Gift Envelopes and Rakhis.
My other hobbies crochet and knitting, other arts n crafts.

Since this is my first blog, I would like to share my new ornamental effect in tatting

I call it the DOT PICOT.

                                                                   DOT PICOT MOTIF
Instead of regular picots on  a chain,  I made tiny rings that sit above the chain. They are 1-stitch thrown (or thrown-off) rings called dots, and since they are used in place of picots, I named them Dot Picots.

As long as one is using 2 shuttles,  decorative picots in any pattern can be converted to dot picots for an alternative effect. It will give your tatted work an ornamental look.

Here is pattern of the Dot Picot Motif-
SH1- Yellow, SH2- Blue in Size 20 thread
Measured 5cm x 5cm
First row consists dot picots.
I have extended by second row to give it more appealing look and it shaped like a star.

1st Row- with SH1 R4-4, center picot measuring 5mm, 4-4 rw
              * ch 2, dot picot( i.e. tiny ring 1ds with SH2, cl) ,
repeat from * four times more, 2ds, rw

continue till there are 6 rings ending with dot picot chain(Join back to first ring) SLT

2nd Row- *with Sh2, 10ds, R with SH2 8ds, 10ds join at base of ring on first row.

continue till end from * and complete the star motif

Yes, it will be fun to try it out.
